Floor / Wall Marble Tiling

Marble & Timber Bathroom Renovation
Marble & Timber Bathroom Renovation

This project utilises complete floor and wall marble tiling for a stunning effect – walking into this bathroom is like walking into a 5-Star Resort! This transformative result demonstrates the power of a bathroom to create a special space within a home, and to elevate the value of the home and the lifestyle of inhabitants! Luxurious marble style is just one of many great tiling solutions available with Armrock. Learn more about our tiling options here.

Round Mirrors

Round mirrors are a popular renovation trend. The advantage of them in this case is the relationship that they create with the mounted basins, and the individualised sense they bring to the bathroom. Two people can use this space at the same time, individually. The circular aspect resonates with other bathroom curves, and without hard lines allows a sense of elevation to be established as if the mirrors were rising up like twin suns or moons. Learn more about fixtures and fittings for bathrooms here, or learn about our top ten renovation trends for the Gold Coast here.

Bench Mount Basins with In-Wall Mixer & Spout

Mounted basins are a popular style and it’s easy to see why. This is a deliberately designed effect referencing old-world style when washing was done with a portable basin. Old-world style in modern bathrooms creates a delightful juxtaposition. The appearance of mounted basins in the context of this customised vanity unity is a compelling result, with the gloss white and timber a happy marriage between elements designed to be together. Learn more about working with gloss white in your renovation project here.

Spacious Bathroom Flow

When designing your dream bathroom, a primary consideration is the flow of the room. How do the different elements connect with each other for a harmonious presentation? Often with bathrooms this is particularly challenging since many of the fixtures and fittings are of different shapes, sizes and dispositions. In the case of this project, the flow of the room is created by combination of relationships and guidelines. The free-standing bath is anchored by the double towel-rails, ensuring its position is locked in the room. The gridlines created by the tiles help to hold the entire design together, with the strong horizontal lines of the vanity unit and towel rails working in partnership with the curved edges of the mirrors and bathtub to create a spacious flow that’s easy to use and understand.

Ceiling-Mounted Rain Shower

These ceiling-mounted rain shower heads do away with a whole lot of visible plumbing, a general norm for most bathrooms. This discrete solution does nothing to take away from the pleasure of a shower in this space, with room for two and modular control under the illuminated tile niche. Armrock renovations are builder-led, so we can discuss all of the options in your project and help you determine the best one for your renovation, and then deploy the trade team to make it happen. Interested in showers? There’s more information about them here.

LED Illuminated Tiled Niche

Tiled bathroom niches are hot property and with Armrock tilers on the job, you can expect a fantastic result. This niche features a stainless-steel trim and LED illumination – it’s a great way to add detail to your bathroom, especially within the shower area, working within the established aesthetics of your project. Toilet, Bathtub and Vanity

How do you relate three objects of different sizes, colours and dispositions? Armrock’s renovation team is highly skilled at getting a great result on our bathroom renovation projects. In the case of this reno, relationships between the fixtures are created by colour (gloss-white), proximity (how they are spaced relative to each other, and relative to the room) line (shared horizontal lines connect the fixtures) and shape (curved edges between the cistern, bathtub and vanity basins). Talk to Armrock Constructions for a solution for your dream Gold Coast bathroom today!

Blue and Brass Bathroom Renovation

Armrock Constructions specialises in bathroom renovations on the Gold Coast QLD. In this project, we upgraded a tired bathroom into a lavish blue and brass styled beauty, creating a distinctive aesthetic that demonstrates the excellent results achieveable with a bold vision. From the deep navy tiles and high-contrast white grout to the brass fittings throughout, it’s a Gold Coast powerhouse. Book a free appraisal and quote for your bathroom today, or read on to learn more about this project.

Before The Renovation

As you can see here, before the renovation took place, the bathroom was looking somewhat tired and ready for a makeover. Take note of the location of the vanity, shower and cistern. In this renovation, we didn’t relocate of these features – simply upgraded everything into a new, fresh bathroom. Working in this way alleviates the need to modify plumbing which helps to reduce the renovation budget.

The New Aesthetic

With strong grid-line created by the blue tiles, the new bathroom exists effortlessly between elements including a custom vanity unity, circular mirror, rain-shower head and general sense of luxurious embrace.

Renovation Shower Solution

This semi-frameless shower solution has room to move – literally and figuratively. The omission of the frame on the door-close point creates a limitless sensibility to this shower. Features within such as the brass rain shower head and brass drain remind participants that they’re showering somewhere special.

Custom Vanity Solution

Working with laminates, Armrock Constructions is producing awesome custom vanities for our bathroom renovations. You can learn more about them here. In this unit, we’ve allowed the brass / brushed copper style to highlight through the whole unit from the raised tapware down through the discrete handles. The wood finish with the plain benchtop is a popular style and can be used in either order (wood finish benchtop, plain vanity if you did it the other way around).

Basin & Mixer

In bathrooms, the details are what makes the renovation great. This brushed copper style that connects the tapware and drain, and the entire bathroom, contrasts nicely with the serious blue tiles to create an informed result. The gentle curves in this basin do well to offset the otherwise exact geometry of this bathroom, enhancing the textural visuals of the room.

Shower Head

Rain shower heads are a popular inclusion that in addition to making the shower experience more immersive, also add visual value to the bathroom design. Armrock Constructions can help you with the design of your bathroom – even if you’re just got a few ideas to start with, our team can help you put the project together.

Tiled Niche

This tiled niche is a great effect and with the strong grout-lines in this bathroom creates a visual impression to remember. Tiled niches are popular – learn more about them here.

Shower Tapware

The tapware in this renovation is matched up with the showerhead, rails, vanity tapware, drains, and handles to provide continuity throughout the entire room.

Bathroom Details

Again demonstrating the importance of detail – even the drain is matched to suit the rest of the room. Top-end aesthetics abound here, even down to features such as the towel-rail and toilet paper dispenser.

Six Things to Know Before Choosing Tiles For Your Renovation

Choosing Tiles for Your Bathroom Renovation
Choosing Tiles for Your Bathroom Renovation

Looking for the perfect bathroom tiles? It won’t take you long to realise there’s more to choosing tiles than meets the eye. The world of tiles can appear complex, confusing and expensive.

The style, functionality and cost of your tiles need to be mapped to your renovation objectives in order to achieve a great result, and since tiles are so popular in kitchen and bathroom renovations, a little research and know-how goes a long way.

We’re here to help. When it’s time to renovate, we can guide you through the options and help you locate the right tiles for your project, working with reputable local suppliers to achieve great results.

To help you get started, here’s a list of 6 Things to Know Before Choosing Tiles For Your Renovation.

1. Tile Delivery Cost

When purchasing tiles, you need a plan to get them from the supplier to the renovation. Tiles are heavy and if you’re ordering in large quantities, may be impractical to handle yourself.

If you’re planning to have your tiles delivered, enquire about delivery costs and factor these into your budget. Depending on the supplier, this may incur an additional expense.

2. Tiles Come in Boxes

Tiles generally come in boxes. While there are exceptions to this rule, it means you need to be aware of how many boxes to order. This is how your figure it out:

  1. First, calculate how many square metres of tiles you need.
  2. Increase this by 10% (for cutting & breakage)
  3. Order the smallest number of boxes of tiles to achieve this amount

In other words:

Tiles come in boxes, and you need to order enough boxes of tiles to cover the area to be tiled, plus 10% extra.

3. Tiling Extent Possibilities

Tiling is a practical way to finish bathrooms, but can be done to different extents. This is a way to balance the style of your bathroom with the cost of tiling.

Examples of popular options include:

  • Floor Only
  • Floor and Half-wall
  • Feature Wall
  • Splashback

4. Quality Considerations

Just like anything, tiles come in different grades of quality. Just because two brands of tiles look the same doesn’t mean they perform equally well. Our team is here to help – just ask and we can point you in the direction of reputable, local tile suppliers.

5. Tile Availability

Need tiles tomorrow? You could be out of luck. Depending on the type and quantity of tiles, sometimes the supplier may need to order them in.

Tiles need to be organised well in advance of the renovation to make sure they’re ready to go when the time comes.

6. Tile Styles are Faddish

Tile styles change from year to year. Like fashion, some styles never age, whereas others rapidly tire and vanish. Choosing tiles should be a long-term decision – ask yourself, “will I still like these tiles in 5 years?”

Tile Insert Strip Drains

Considering using tiles for a drain? Learn more about this popular option on our bathroom drains page: Bathroom Drains.

Tiled Bathroom Niches

A popular application for tiles is in a tiled bathroom niche. Learn more about this option here: bathroom niches.

Tiles – A Renovation Essential

Tiles are an essential for any kitchen or bathroom renovation. They’re hard-wearing and great-looking, and are available in water resistances appropriate for applications in both bathroom and kitchen renovations. Learn more about the benefits of tiles in this article.

Hexagonal Tile Niche Bathroom Renovation

Grey and White Bathroom Design
Grey and White Bathroom Design

In this Gold Coast bathroom renovation, Armrock Constructions worked with our clients to achieve a fresh look for the revamped room. Features of this renovation include:

  • Hexagonal-Tiled Niche
  • Hexagonal-Tiled Feature wall
  • Simple, classy colour scheme
  • Free-standing bathtub
  • Tile Insert Strip Drain
  • Single to double vanity plumbing enhancement

Tiled Bathroom Niches

Bath with Hexagonal Tiled Niche
Bath with Hexagonal Tiled Niche

Tiled bathroom niches are an increasingly popular solution storage solution for common bathing items adjacent to showers and bathtubs. Our Gold Coast projects frequently feature the addition of a niche (or two) because they work well and look fantastic too. If you’re interested in tiled niches, please visit our page on tiled bathroom niches to see some of the different solutions we’re putting in place.

Hexagonal Tiled Features

Free Standing Bathtub with Grey Tiles
Free Standing Bathtub with Grey Tiles

What makes this bathroom a standout is the discrete application of some tiled variations to create visual depth, interest, and integration in the room. The walls are predominantly a gloss-white rectangular tile (300x600mm) which is enhanced by a feature-wall of gloss-white tiles with a hexagonal impression. It’s a subtle distinction, but its enhanced by the addition of two tiled niches with stainless-steel framing and marbled hexagonal tiles with high-contrast grout-lines for a couple of complimentary features.

Here’s how it was achieved:

Design Principal: Repetition

Repetition – it’s all about repeating elements through your design to create relationships. Every time you think about incorporating a new element (fixture, fitting, etc) pause and consider how it relates to other elements. Repetition can be used to different extents to guide the visual flow of the room.

Simple, Classy Colour Scheme

Grey and White Bathroom Design
Grey and White Bathroom Design

This bathroom utilises a winning colour scheme in grey and white tones. This combination is suitable for any modern bathroom, and it’s popular in many of our Gold Coast projects. By using this simple colour scheme, you can accessories with towels, plants, and lighting to create a variety of colourful and interesting effects, if you wish.

Free Standing Bathtub Option

Free-Standing Bathtub with Tiled Feature Wall
Free-Standing Bathtub with Tiled Feature Wall

A real feature of this bathroom is the effect of the free-standing bathtub. Although this bathroom is not especially large, this free-standing tub solution creates the impression of visual space. It’s a functional addition that’s easy on the eyes.

Tile Insert Strip Drain

Long Tile Inset Strip Drain
Long Tile Inset Strip Drain

These are popular with our clients and there’s a good reason why. In a tiled floor there’s no reason to make a feature out of the waste. In this beautiful bathroom renovation, we used a rectangular tile inset strip waste for the shower and a similar square effect for the main bathroom waste. Seamless style means you can focus on the parts of the bathroom you really want to.

Double Vanity and Plumbing

Double-Basin Prefabricated Bathroom Vanity
Double-Basin Prefabricated Bathroom Vanity

In this renovation, our clients opted for a pre-fabricated double-basin vanity. Because the previous plumbing structure was built to serve a single basin, this renovation included advancement of the plumbing water & waste for the double option to work. The plumbing is neatly tucked away inside the vanity.

Toilet Renovation

Cistern Renovation
Cistern Renovation

Renovating this toilet we have kept the same theme going with 300 x 600 tiling on the floors and walls. The wall-mounted vanity is a great way to create some extra space in this small room. To make this happen we needed to move some plumbing, but the functional result is an independently operable toilet. Topped off by some gloss-white venetian blinds, who wouldn’t want to spend some time in this room?

Chic Bathroom Renovation

In this Gold Coast bathroom renovation, the team from Armrock Constructions achieved a great result working with our client’s budget and requirements. Cost-saving measures in this project include retention of original locations such as the shower, tub and vanity, and the re-use of assets such as the tub and blinds.

In a renovation, sometimes the right solution is to replace everything – but sometimes, best results are achieved by re-using and re-invigorating existing components.

Renovation Commences

All renovations begin with a demolition stage, and this project is no exception. While the renovation process can be disruptive, Armrock minimises the impact with an efficient approach and complete team. We aim to complete your reno as quickly as possible so you can get on with life and enjoy your new bathroom!

Tiling Solution

These tiles have a long, thin horizontal disposition and they’re a non-conventional approach. Because of the soft colour tone, they create a pleasing, restful impression. Armrock’s tilers ensure tiles are laid as they should be, equipping the project for the installation of the vanity and shower.

Final Result

Our client has opted for a pre-fabricated vanity in this renovation. The circular mirror enhances the tiling for a mystical, relaxed vibe in this newly fresh, cleanly renovated Gold Coast bathroom.

Custom Vanity Bathroom Renovation

This Gold Coast bathroom achieved a pleasing modern result. It included the installation of a custom-made vanity unity, tiling, cistern and shower. Utilising custom-made elements in your new bathroom is a fantastic way to make the most of the space and design opportunities in the room. On this page we’ll take you through the renovation and discuss highlights of the project.

The Renovation Begins

The renovation begins with the demolition of the previous bathroom. As you can see below, the previous vanity unit was limited in scope and vision.

Bathroom Tiling

450x450mm Grey Tiles
450x450mm Grey Tiles

In keeping with the modern aesthetic, this bathroom uses 450x450mm square grey tiles for the floor. Tiles in different grey tones are an easy compliment to the whites and silvers of many bathroom fixtures and fittings. There are notes on working with gloss white in your bathroom here, and you can learn more about our bathroom and kitchen tiling solutions here.

Tiled Strip Feature

The decision to include a tiled strip feature in this bathroom paid dividends. It adds some visual interest without taking over visually.
